Looking better. Greenwood and Vea on board will mean a full bench this week - potentially the difference between winning and losing last week. There may even be a decent forward left out of the 17.

Still worried about the lack of attacking threat coming from the 3/4s.

Fantastic to see Vea and Greenwood in there. Maybe we have a chance after all. Surprised to see Drinkwater in there but happy for that.

O'Callaghan & Forster to possibly miss out??

Although judging by the stick they got for various reasons last week it may well be Atkins & McMeeken to make way.

McMeeken's an interesting one for me. Came through the juniors as a centre, scored a lot of tries from there and played for England in that position, but seems to have been shoved into the second row purely because he's a big bloke. Despite being around a long time he's only 19, and its a hell of an ask to play in the forwards at that age, all told I think I'd prefer to see him moved back out to the 3/4s.

Is it possible to play Drinkwater/Bishay in the halves and then move Farrar into the centres in place of Atkins. Then either drop Atkins or move him to the wing and drop Jamie C.

I don't think TR would do that so I expect it be Bishay(who does not deserved to be dropped) plus someone like McMeeken. My own preference would be Jamie C and McMeeken (just to give him a rest from the forward battle)

Kinda my thoughts really - I think he could turn out to be a great home grown player for us but I worry about him being played out of position all the time. Any merit in trying him as a left centre? We're so weak defensively on that side at the moment maybe he could be worth a go?

McMeeken is far too slow for centre IMO. He looks like he's running through water in a pair of diver's boots - even at top speed.

He could be a decent second-row though as he runs good lines, offloads and defends strongly. I think everyone knows he needs to be more aggressive in taking the ball up.

Rea has overplayed him this year. He fatigues quite obviously and this affects not just his physical efforts but his concentration too. Now we have plenty of forwards available, McMeeken should get fewer minutes and I expect him to look sharper.

Agreed, as has been pointed out he's still only 19.

Re: 19 Man Squad v Wakefield : Thu Mar 13, 2014 6:18 pm
O'C made 1 tackle, just over 50 metres and missed no tackles last week. Atkins made even less metres, missed 5 from 10 tackles and didn't play well but at least he was more involved than O'C.

Meek Mike was one of two or three ordinary looking forwards last week, alongside Griffin and Slyney, who scored but missed more tackles than Atkins.

Mike Bishay was our man of the match according to the respected RL express.

I would suggest that we need to get Solomona, Caton, Farrar, Drinkwater, Minns and Bishay in the backs and I'd pick Atkins over O'C as O'C has had over 100 chances already without impressing but a solution in which both missed out would be ok
