Henderson names 19-man squad for Hunslet clash

London Broncos head coach Andrew Henderson has named his 19-man squad to face Hunslet Hawks this Sunday at The Hive (kick-off 3:00pm).

William Barthau could make his long awaited debut for the club after an ACL injury ruled the french international half-back out for the first six months of the year. Elliot Kear is back in the squad having recovered from a leg injury which ruled him out of the game with Doncaster.

“It was about as tough a week as you can have and with our relatively small squad, it was hard to make too many changes over the course of the three games,” said Henderson.

“It was testament to the 21 players and the backroom staff, to be able to come through and deliver and get the results. It was a great week for the club and the team and hopefully we can continue to build on these foundations and this momentum and take it forward to the back end of the season.”

“We’ve got to focus on ourselves, get our house in order and be ready to go and get the result. We need to keep winning games to give ourselves a chance of finishing in the top four. We didn’t have it all our own way when we played them at the South Leeds Stadium so it will be a tough one for us.”

Perhaps a chance for Hendo to have a rest? Play Nasso for the 80 as a yards maker, and rotate Barthau/Thomas/Gilmore to get a fast play of the ball and some direction?

Probably agree that Hendo may decide to sit it out if Barthau is ready. This week is possibly the best opportunity to give him some game time. Though I just wonder if he'll carry on and give Nasso a rest? Perhaps Morris would also miss out with Kear coming back in.

Well f**k my hat, I didn't know that!

Come all without, come all within, we're London Broncos not the H********s!

We look a much better side with Hendo out there. I would rather Nasso miss out this time, especially if Barthau is going to play

I guess it'll depend on Hendo and how he feels, we 'prolly should rest him, but we ARE more effective with him playing!

I must agree, with Hendo on the pitch as a team we are much more effective. I am sure the upturn in form of players, such as Oscar, is due to his influence
on the pitch.
If he is up to it I hope he plays.

2nd half must've been good (from our perspective), stuck at work (damn these 12hr Sundays!), anyone there intend to give us the low-down?

Re: 19 For Sunday : Sun Jun 21, 2015 8:17 pm
Possibly a disappointing first half as Broncos tried to score off every pass. Too many forced passes and defensively seemed disjointed. Could argue that despite a 12 all score at half time, all the points were due to the Broncos. Felt Hunslet were to some extent limited but played to their strengths and made good metres.

Second half Broncos started to play as a team. More focussed on playing the set rather than scoring every play. Kept Hunslet mostly in their own half unless they made a mistake. But probably too many mistakes for comfort. Barthau allowed some game time and demonstrated a speed of passing and thought that some of our players will need to catch up with. Thought Minchella was benefitting from the extra speed. Hopefully Garside and Harrison will be okay (though heard Harrison might be missing, pity if true as his input is essential and completely overlooked).

A win nonetheless and after 4 games in 15 days all wins, a significant performance.

Re: 19 For Sunday : Sun Jun 21, 2015 8:25 pm
Like NLG says, the boys came out and didn't really seem up for it - not working as a group, waiting for a teammate to do something, going through the motions. Usual curate's egg from from Thomas who excites and frustrates equally.

Second half, we had much more ball and Thackray (especially) and Lovegrove ran hard. Hendo, too, as is usual, lifted the team's enthusiasm and Barthau (on for Gilmore) showed up well (along with an error or two). These four guys are leaders too and I think they talked as hard as they ran. They controlled the game in a way that Wallace, Nasso, Dollapi and Gilmore couldn't.

Worrying loss of Harrison and Dollapi to injuries and with neither returning I think we played the last 30 mins without forward cover on the bench.

Need to lift for Halifax. Barthau starts for me and we need four forwards on the bench.

Amazing the difference Hendo has made being on the pitch, I feel they really look to him.
