One for the refs here. Just before point of impact a slight swerve threw the attacker off balance as he attempted to react. As such he was going slightly backwards and would inevitably throw an arm a bit higher than usual in an attempt to regain balance. Does that give the referee grounds not to produce a red as I'd be struggling to argue it was reckless or intentional? More a horrible set up circumstances that saw the laws of physics and anatomy come into play.
Have to say I enjoyed myself and will certainly be buying some sort of membership. Frankly getting away from all the hopeless ins and outs of the clubs day to day running for a while left me returning and just enjoying rugby league. It's a personal decision but I'd advise those saying they will never return to take a while out and then take in one match. I do understand if anyone feels it is too late. I suspect I unintentionally timed my absence well in terms of missing a lot of the most worrying days.
Finally a hat tip to Tony Benson who took a gamble moving a competent level three centre / wing to full back after he had only played a few RL games. I feared it was too soon to put a convert in such a key position. I was wrong and the rest of the story is quite literally Broncos history.
