Just read an article regarding Leigh Centurions and the salary cap.
Derek Beaumont the Leigh chairman ,says he has four major high profile signings planned, in addition to his current high profile players, Gareth Hock, Micky Higham and Fuifui Moimoi. He says the Salary Cap is a restraint of trade and he will ignore it. He has taken advice on the matter and is prepared to do whatever it takes to get Leigh into Super League, let them fine us, he says, we will just pay the fines.
Whilst I do have sympathy with him, In the way the Super 8s are set up regarding the difference in cap between the divisions. Promotion as it stands is highly unlikely. Rules are Rules. The RFL need to enforce them, fines are no good, points deduction is the answer.
It does need sorting out, and we need leadership from the top of the game.
We may not be able to sign Sean Morris, because of Salary Cap restrictions, then I read this. I am not happy.

Bostwick There's a lot of hot air emanating from Leigh on this. For several years now we have operated with a dynamic salary cap, rather than one that looks back at what you did the season before (that was how Wigan go away with buying their way out of relegation back in Nobby's day). The Championship Cap is £1m; Leigh will not be able to register players that take them over that cap. Simple.
On your wider point the whole Super 8 comp was built to give Leigh, Fax and Fev a shot at Super League - they are likely to fail in this in 2015, and it won't get easier in 2016 and beyond. In order to manufacture this we have the ridiculous situation that in the Championship central funding ranges from around £700k ish down to £150k! How does that make a credible competition where all can pay up to the cap?
And let's not forget all a Championship team has to do in that Super 8 is beat the other Championship teams then travel to the worst Super League team in a cup final. Leigh have failed even in that task this year. As a wise man once said (oh hang on it was me!) this is not every second counts but eighty minute counts.
Its an ill conceived and shambolic system created by a shambolic ruling body of the greatest sport on earth. Who'd have figured?

Wigan under Whelan tried something similar. Its true its against employment law, we have a minimum wage but not a maximum wage(Until the bearded geography teacher gets in to No 10!)

If you say to Leigh break the agreement and we wont play you they may think again. Beaumont is a fat Gob5hite. Leigh are universally despised because of him and his coaching lieutenant who is also a gobby get

They've spent big and failed. Even Salford are holding back on signings til they are secure

I think that there's some doubt about employment laws in this situation, in that as the member clubs voted for a salary cap, it could be considered a condition of membership. Whatever the legal position the only people who'd benefit from a court case would be, as usual, the legal profession!
