demise of a club- York CK : Fri Jul 22, 2016 12:06 pm
I know its not a team that we have faced so a bit off pist. But its really sad to see a club with a long history ceasing to exist, for the time being at least, I hope someone can come in and resurect the club and they can keep going as a semi pro outfit.
It is a sad sate of affairs when a club that has been around as long as York has to shut up shop, but it makes you wonder how many clubs are close to the same situation! They have had a pretty decent season this year as well and the crowds have not been that bad, their last home game was just short of 600 and that was against Glos so probably very few away fans! How many are we averaging?
It does seem to have settled down a bit, the constant knocking of our current owner, but this does show that without folk like Mr Hughes pumping money in keeping the game alive is difficult and in honesty thats quite probably at all levels, I wonder what will happen to Salford when Dr K walks away.
In a world where the RFL have announced an operating profit it makes you wonder should not more be done by the governing body of the sport to keep teams going?
