The vid ref is an interesting discussion, player makes an error grounding the ball, are they honest? Not a chance the player will always clam the try even when they know they have made an error. In that case if the ref is unsighted but in his view he thinks it’s grounded and gives it, then from the replays it shows a knock on, result the Refs get slated. So any doubt they go upstairs, result the refs get slated.
As for James Childs! Why was he constantly blowing? Coz players were infringing, it was a tight game it needed reffing that way. A game that’s a runaway score you can let flow more.
All the arguments against Catalans saying Refs penalise em more, yes because there discipline is shocking.
Soon as they got put on a warning they stopped infringing what does that say?
The VR issue with obstruction is now getting silly, that’s one thing I think we all agree on, but look at the other side, we now have players stopping and throwing their hands up appealing for the penalty! When I played we were taught play to the whistle, Rugby league players are increasingly becoming like football players.
Think the aus game has got the obstruction decisions right, could the defending player have made the tackle or effect the play, if not then it’s not obstruction, the uk view does not seem to take that into account but the ref and VR are only applying the laws of the game.
