Re: Plough Lane Stadium - Wimbledon : Sun Dec 13, 2020 5:55 pm
As much as i personally like ealing, the new stand (that was never going to get built) improved it an awful lot, having everything in one place also paid off. Reality is as a Super League venue it struggles to meet the criteria.
So a move was probably always on the cards, is wimbledon the answer? Looks like the club possibly think so. What ever they decide, as always some will love it some will hate it.
Question to ask is, if it was the difference between SL or not what do the fans think of that? Would those who hate idea of wimbledon be happy to stay in championship because they dont want change?
Do i like thought of moving again, no. Do i think we would get the SL 12th slot if we are at ealing still? Probably no.
Will i give up on the club if they move? Of course not.
Lets see what happens tomorrow

WQ read all this thread, if its a true posting, the CEO of wimbledon FC asking for dons trust members for thoughts on a link up with broncos is a pretty strong indicator its being discussed

I know London in the past have not been great at recruiting fans but tapping into the AFC Wimbledon fanbase might get a few more through the gate and some of the surrounding areas like Tooting, Mitcham and Sutton have a lot of working class people who could be attracted to a physical game and there are a lot of schools to get the word spread around.

Think from what was said in the 500 words in League Expresd, that something was in the full document! showing commitment to achieve Super League standards! We just have to wait & see once the 12th place club is announced Monday, whatever the result I expect the club to go public with plans.

London and it’s surrounding counties that’s towns are classed as boroughs of London are absolutely jam packed. Millions upon millions of people there. Plenty “working class” people all over the place. You can’t move in London for them, really. They don’t watch the club now. They won’t be swelled by a shiny new Lego stadium.

Well they were definitely not swelled at Trailfinders lol, What you call 'shiny new Lego stadium' could be no worse! The last time we attracted fair crowds was at The Stoop, there is no reason that can't be done again, with the right marketing I remember The World Challenge matches at The Stoop, we used commercial radio to promote the games, I feel we have a better chance at Wimbledon, if correct, than our current base! But then I'm more a half full than negative half empty, until priced different!

The grass is always greener. But there is no real plan, there's never a real plan, just wishful thinking.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasnt there an agreement between DH and Ealings owner that if any work needed doing to ground if either party got promoted then work cost would be split between the two parties or did I dream this .....
