As one of the posters on last nights prog I was not anti wigan but was airing my views on the Sport in general I also text in about Wakefield releasing young players but it was not used.
The point I wanted to make was that while all clubs are going for quick fix short term solutions with overseas signings some people in the game are concerned about the number of our academy players that are being ignored.
I don't know if this has been made public yet but Ray Unsworth will also be quiting Wigan and joining Sale
as academy manager.
But the truth is, mate, that Wigan aren't releasing young players. Thornley was made a very good offer by Wigan, given his age, his lack of experience and his apparent lack of progress. If RU then wants to double that offer with frankly ridiculous money, there's not much we can, or should, do about it.
I repeat for the umpteenth time that this had nothing to do with the Melbourne signings. Thornley going to RU has been on the cards for about a year.
You keeping saying otherwise, no matter how well-meaning you pretend you're trying to be, is just propagating a tired and nonsensical myth.
As for Ray Unsworth, I don't know what's happened there, but, since Maguire was appointed, Wigan have gradually been replacing all their training and backroom staff. I personally always liked Ray, but if Madge has decided he doesn't need him, so be it.
