I haven't posted this to get in to a posting battle so i will reply to your post and say no more
First:
please don't use my choice of the word release to change the subject of my post.
whether a young player is released or chooses to leave the fact remains that our sport is loosing good prospects to other sports IE union Aussie rules etc.
Second:
this is the only time I've commented on the subject so how you can say [i]I can assure you i am not pretending to be well meaning. looking at some of your replies to other people on other subjects you come across as somebody that has blind faith in your club and if that's the case there is no point in conversing with you but i hope for the sports sake more people care about the sport than about there clubs last /next game.

Pal ... on this board we've been complaining about the risk to the game's youngsters for two or three seasons. Whenever we've suggested that modifications should be made to the cap - maybe an introduction of discounts on these home-grown kids, which would enable us to pay them what they're worth - all we've got is criticism from fans of other clubs because "we're only interested in ourselves". Not an accusation you're unfamiliar with, I'm sure, as you've been very quick to reiterate it here (surprise, surprise).
But the upshot is, you're preaching to the wrong people ... especially given that Wigan have produced more quality youngsters than almost anyone else in the last few years, and have done as much as is feasibly possible in the last season or so to secure as many of them on good deals as they can.
We only signed Paul Deacon at the end of last year, and that was mainly so he could train under Michael Maguire as a coach. The three Aussie signings we've made this year have been to replace lesser overseas players who were coming to the end of their time. And yet you still feel free to come and lecture us. Perhaps you can see why posts like yours are regarded as a bit of joke.
