They'd get more people going if it was marketed as the 'pi55-up weekend'

Especially as it's in Scotland.

IMO they should forget taking it on the road to promote it in non rugby league areas. Move it to the last bank holiday at the end of May so its out of the football season and book Old Trafford. Its easily reachable by virtually all fans, and lets face it, with the budget the RFL has, it will never be possible to make rugby league a national sport.
Fill Old Trafford with devoted fans, rake in the £££ with higher attendances and hire a proper marketing person. Preferably somebody who doesn't see rugby league as an alternative to Fisher Price or Teletubbies.

They'd get more interest from me if they took the next round of the Challenge cup on the road. Eight games over two days which would actually mean something and wouldn't skew the league fixture list.
Trouble is the TV coverage - BBC have the rights to the CC early rounds so I'm not sure what the situation would be with sky covering the remainder. Having said that, if they want to actually promote the game in an expansion area surely the whole point should be to get bodies in the ground rather than watching on Sky?
In its present form it's an unsahamed attempt at getting a few more quid out of regular supporters and I fear that this seasons event will fall totally flat. I'd be very surprised if we saw it again next year.

Why are people suprised. The RFL are going backwards in a hurry with Lewis seemingly unintrested and Wood in charge.

They should be advertising this event in a way to attract adults. This wacky races crap is just silly, if you atrract the adults the kids will be with them. Can you imagine a kid going home to their parents with a leaflet with wacky races rugby on it? They will think they've made it at school
The people who go to Edinburgh will probably be the fans that would of gone anyway wherever it was so this whole advertising campaign was a complete waste of money. I wonder what they are going to meddle with next because this will be scrapped after this year imo.
