Shaun Edwards leaving sharply in 1997 was am opportunity for either Sean Long or Murdock to replace him but they decided to sign Tony Smith from Castleford.
He played John Monies first two games on return but he settled for Henry Paul and Smith in halves so We sent Murdock on loan to Hull and he ended up joining permanently. Later Played briefly for Salford before going to Hull KR but he was retired injured at age 28.
Later became a commentator for BBC Humberside for ten years or so and now manages the UK arm of Map Sports which is a player agency. Did a few games with him on Wish FM. Top bloke.
