Club were planning to make a big event of this with the fanzone being open from 12 on the Saturday for a family fun day. Can kiss goodbye to some of that income and that from some of the hospitality.
Certainly screwed me over; have a concert ticket for the Friday. Out of pocket no matter whether I miss the gig or the match.
Now we are pretty much nailed on second we now have the problem of where the play off semi will be played as our tie was due to be played 12:30 on the Saturday but as Latics are at home that is out of the question. If we play Huddersfield we cant even switch it to the away teams ground as the footy team is at home there as well (as are Bolton.) Don't fancy playing Leeds or Catalans away so may be a neutral venue (Leigh or Wire) unless we can swap dates with the Saints match.
To be fair, the fanzone opening at 12 on the Saturday is only the same as it opening at 5 on normal days, i.e. 3 hours before kick off. I'm not sure what exactly they'll be losing as most of the planned things were costs not returns unless there was a bigger than usual turnout in the fanzone. Friday attendances tend to be better than Saturday afternoons so I'm guessing this would offset any possible increases from elsewhere.
I'd be very surprised if the club is financially worse off for the change but I'm obviously sympathetic to those it inconveniences. I was merely speaking from a personal point if view as I wouldn't have been able to make the Saturday.
