We obviously had a lot of players represented at the WC across the various nations. We've had a lot of discussions about Pettingbourne, but how do you feel the other lads went? Marks out of ten?

Lockers 9 out of 10 really organised mid field
Charnley 7 out of 10 may have been more if he had more time on the ball rather than a ball greedy centre who could not run straight
Sam 8 out of 10, defensively I thought he was fantastic, but in attack, he looked like no one was up to his speed at times.
Gelling, 6 out of 10, no doubt this lad has some talent, but the eagerness to keep getting back up and running hard seems missing sometimes. I like Gelling, but I would like to see him with fire in his belly.

Pettybourne 9/10. His efforts were outstanding, we could all see why he's signed.
Lockers 8/10. A class act who couldn't show enough due to poor half backs
around him, bar Widdop in the semi.
Josh 7/10 Never really got the opportunity to show of his best.
Sam 9/10 Defensively excellent and England's only real attacking threat.
Gelling 5/10 Didn't show up much in an average Cooks team.

A little disappointing to be honest.

Gelling didn't stand out when you would hope he would have in the Cook Islands team.

Flower, Dudson and Lloyd didn't look any better than the rest of the Welsh.

Farrell and Mossop (I know he's left now) were anonymous when they played.

Tomkins played OK but it seems he's being marked out of games at times. Wouldn't be against seeing him go back to 6 at his new club.

O'Loughlin was great on Saturday though and Pettybourne was tremendous throughout.

As has been said, Lockers and Pettingborne were the standouts, with Sam playing well without doing any of the spectacular things he's become known for.

The rest of the squad didn't really do much of note. I suppose the question is, will they have improved as players for the experience?

I saw Ryan Hoffman tweet during the tournament that Sean O'Loughlin is the most under-rated in all of rugby league or words to that effect and I find it hard to disagree. He was superb throughout but as ever didn't get the headlines.

Saw what I expected of the other Wigan/England players, and I was impressed by what I saw of Rhodri Lloyd.

Good-
Lockers- Proved to everyone what we knew, that he's world class. He really is a stunning player nowadays. Works like a forward, hits like a train with the handling ability of a back.

Pettybourne- Looks a top signing. Big and a good engine and will fit in well with our style of play.

Flower- Same old with this guy, works hard and does all the little things well.

Decent-

Tomkins- played within himself I though. He was a creative force but not a massive individual threat. He defended really well and played in the mode of a 'proper' fullback rather then a running half who's been placed there.

Charnley- Solid in the main but I've seen him play better. He'll continue to improve.

Lloyd- Did well in patches for a poor Wales side.

McIlorum- Did ok but no more. He's a big game player and didn't play in either of our big games in the tournament. Pay Richards tweeted during the NZ game that it was tailor made for Micky Mac and he was right. I doubt he'll get the chance to prove his quality in a big game though.

Poor
Richards- I'd still include him if we're including Tomkins and Mossop. He looked his age I thought and looked like this was a few games too far. A total legend of our club but I think the timings been right in terms of parting the ways.

Dudson- Didn't run his weight for Wales like he doesn't for us. He's got big improvements to make IMO.

Mossop- Only played about half an hour verses Australia but he was awful. He finished the season in career best form for us but went back in to his shell in that game at Cardiff. He always looks like he needs a kick up the backside.

After those players like Gelling and Faz didn't get enough chances to show what they could do and Hansen was injured.

Almost totally agree with that summary. Don't think Sam has been himself since first few months if season. The life changing experience he's going to encounter is bound to be playing on his mind, especially as he's going without family.

Spot on with your summary.

My only slight disagreement is with Lockers. He missed Australia again - not his fault of course. But he needs to have a massive game against them to silence the doubters from other clubs who think that we over rate him.
