I'd like to say 'you've had your chance Mr Gasnier' so you can go and take a hike but the guy is a truely superb rugbyleague player and if somebody said to me now Carmont leaves at the end of 2010 and we replace him with Gasnier i'd have to say thanks very much.

I'm a huge Carmont fan but Gasnier is outstanding. I'd imagine Saints will have him on their radar aswell with them needing to replace Gidley for 2011.

Please not for the Stains first Lyon & Gidley then Gasnier

In my opinion Gasnier prior to his move to union was head and shoulders the best player in the world, add him to Leeds, Saints, Wire or Wigan and I think you would almost guarantee whichever of those clubs he signed for a trophy every year.

He was up there as best player in the world no doubt. When he gets the ball in that right centre position it's just a joy to watch. He's big, strong, fast, has great footwork and great hands.

If he was a couple of years older i'd worry about how he could come back from a stint in Union but he's only 28 and could have 4 or 5 top seasons left in him.

If Catalans do get him they'll be very lucky.

This has started from a rumour about a rumour on the Catalans board.

So far we've got that Adam Mogg is heading back to Australia in a couple of weeks. Rumoured to be due to family problems.
Catalans are in early taks with a British half back 'who wants away from his current club' and the rumours seem to be suggesting it could be Danny Brough! The only other name I can think of that fits the bill is Paul Cooke.

I'd release Carmont, Bailey and Pryce for Gasnier, that should cover it. He's up there with Inglis, an absolutely phenomenal rugby league player.
