Yes, but being clever after the event adds nothing to the debate.
I don't recall a rain of despair on here when the story got out that the club had decided MM's terms were too much given his age and injury status. As far as many fans could see, he was busted. And it's only in recent weeks that he and his colleagues at Catalan have turned the corner.
I'm not saying there weren't people who were unhappy that he was going. But it wasn't by any means a given that he was going to start putting in superhuman performances.
Would MM have helped us get to Wembley and win it if we'd agreed to that big contract he wanted? We'll never know. So it seems pointless to make an issue of it now.
