The town is certainly blue this morning, no sympathy whatsoever. How many times has the rugby club and fans tried to build unity. I hope Lenegan doesn't make any offers this time. Just take the stadium off them for nowt if we can get it profitable.

The town is turning blue.............. or something

The idiotic element wouldn’t have had it but it’s those he should’ve ignored. Instead he played up to them at every opportunity, including sacking a manager who was doing ok (he looks like he was over achieving if anything given how bad they’ve been since he went.

You’re absolutely entitled to feel how you do but in truth, the actions of these owners breeds attitudes like yours and that shows that it’s not the thing to do. I’ve not been going watching Latics anywhere near as much since they took over and I’ve got friends who would go to the odd game but are mainly rugby fans and they probably won’t bother again. That’s lost income for the football club but hey, at least Talal got loads of praise from some numskulls on Twitter.

I can’t wait for them to go and hopefully the club can get be bought by people with some sense.

The problem is that this will mean another huge period of disruption for us.

Last time, the administrators wouldn't sell us the ground without also selling us the football club. IL didn't bite on that, and now we know why. It's too expensive to run even a lower league professional football club these days unless you've got money to burn and you're prepared to burn it because you're a massive fan. But someone like Whelan comes along once in a lifetime. Latics' only real future is back where they started, but more likely, I fear, they'll just go out of business.

What happens to us then? Can we carry the costs of the stadium on our own? Probably not. IL wanted to put some kind of consortium together, and create a sort of Wigan Sports Club franchise - something along those lines, anyway - but he'll struggle to do that if the football aren't involved.

I hate saying this, but if I was Wigan Warriors, I'd now be considering the viability of Robin Park as a potential future stadium.

Not sure why you hate to say it - for me that's the dream.

 ditto.

better still, if there is a big old empty stadium sat there with no use, just knock it down and build a new one on the same spot, that will rub it in nicely.

It's the dream for a lot of us tbh. I hate the DW with a passion, soulless, concrete block with no thought or flair put into it.

Watching the Dolphins this morning and looking at their small, but quirky looking stadium made me want something different even more.

Come on, fellas. This isn't the sort of thing that would happen smoothly or easily, and it may be the last thing we need with the IMG revamp going on.

I don't care tuppence for Wigan Athletic. They're a bloody nuisance and have been for years, but every time they threaten to go under, which seems to happen more and more regularly, I worry it will have a knock-on effect for us.

My main concern is it effecting the rugby. I always think a statement comes out from a club when there’s an issue and it usually not what they put in the statement. Once not paying staff/players is bad enough but 3/4 time now seems something is underlying.

The development of Robin Park/ taking over DW is not viable for us. Lots of dead money in DW. Even if we have the money to develope Robin Park no way we’d get permission from the council to build a stadium next to a stadium that. Also is there enough room around the RP pitch to fit the stands. Ideally we’d need it to same size as wire/saints I can’t see us having the room

There are ways and means of financing things like stadiums. It doesn't have to be one big initial outlay.

We could use the car park space and extend out in front of the fan village and have the fan village incorporated into the actual stadium, thn knock down the DW, weigh the scrap in and use the land as a car park.

It's the uncertainty it causes us which is our problem, paying the wages they have been doing on the crowds they get was never going to end well
