The shirt sales were bound to be more than ever - we have more season ticket sales than ever. we have just come top of the league and crowned SL champions, the marketing team is better than it has been for years, I could go on.,.......................................................................WIGAN ARE BACK!!!!

There's not many kids I know who wouldn't have wanted a 'Wigan Shirt' for Xmas. There's the 'happy clappers' who will always buy one whatever happens and then there those that like it.

From knowing someone within the club pretty high up - well before Xmas they were selling really well so this hasn't surprised me at all.

Just because you don't see it please don't assume it's lies.

I have a home shirt (because I like it) and don't have the away one (because I don't like looking like I've been sponsored by Wigan Council!!! ). I only wear mine at games and I think you find alot of people are the same.

Preach Tracie love  :)

Yep, it's 63,001 shirts he needs to sell to cover the £2m debt that had to be paid by the end of November.

Surely though,

a/ it depends on whether he sells Junior or adult sizes as they cost different?
b/ He won't "Make" that amount on each shirt? He/The club will only make profit say 30% of each sale? So say £10/£15 quid is profit meaning he had to have sold say 160,000 shirts to make that Money that He had to pay DW by end of November?

What is this money we're talking about - do you have a link to the thread discussing it? Cheers

Not wanting to stick my nose in on your 'debate' but I'd be very, very surprised if Wigan make less than £25 profit on their shirts.

Ok, I bow down to your "Insider" knowledge!

So that means he had to sell 80,000 - 100,000 to "cover the £2m debt that had to be paid by the end of November."

Seems like a pretty flimsy business plan to me?

Pay £2million that I'm guessing IL knew had to pay back as part of the deal to buy Wigan in the first place by Bringing a shirt out that you can only buy "After" the time you had to pay it off and work on a Retail Forecast of selling approx 6 x times the total number of Wigans average attendance to make that amount of Money that he had to, to "cover the £2m debt that had to be paid by the end of November!"

Something doesn't add up

And the Vultures come swooping!

I wouldn't bother, Wigan aren't in financial melt down, I'm sure WLA will fill you in on the details.

'Do you remember when we had that meeting in Orlando? We talked about how we were knocked out the previous year by Leeds. And at the end, I asked you one question. "Do you want to be a semi-final team? Or do you want to do something special?" You all said you wanted to win. But talking is easy – it needed you to believe. It needed you to work hard – harder than you had – and make sacrifices. You did all that. you worked for each other. You stuck together when it was tough. And because of your efforts, you sit here tonight as champions. I'm proud of you. Be proud of yourselves. You've done something special.'

Shaun Wane's post-Grand Final speech. 5th October 2013.
