It was the reaction to last night's statement that just blows you away. The current owners (who aren't trusted due to constant lies) are trusted by the fanbase in saying they've found a fit and proper alternative to sell to. Then the egotistical rants return - 'throw them out', 'increase the rent', 'blue seats' etc etc. When the hatred for another club (in another bloody sport!) exceeds the desire to save the club from extinction and stabilise...
Why would you trust the current owners to find someone suitable? At least when in administration there is in theory someone acting in their best interests.
Those type of Latics fans just do not learn. Surely now is the time to show some humility and to be sensible and if a takeover takes place, the overriding emotion should be relief and a sense of realism, in saying that they simply have to work with the rugby club, to make things work and to bring the clubs closer together. People know I support both but I was open on here a couple of weeks back, that those type of Latics fans knock me sick. Their first reaction always seems to be one of trying to flex their muscles and claim a position of power.
Ultimately I’m still extremely worried about the position of the football club. This kid looking to take over sounds like a crook and looks unlikely to pass the fit and proper persons tests (which is saying something, given how shambolic that process is).

Latics have been though this a few times now and always seem to come out the other end worse. I just get more and more baffled in how they let their hate for the rugby cloud all logic and have a severe detest for things that would honestly be the best scenario for their club, to the point where i see many claim that if Lenagan and Danson were to be involved in running their club, then they would abandon being fans all together.
After the carcrash that has been the last 5ish years for them, would Lenagan and Danson really be such a bad scenario?
Lenagan has knowledge of football and has been involved in other clubs in the past, and also the EFL itself. An owner with a passion for sports, football and the town is something Latics fans are crying out for, Lenagan seems to tick all of them boxes along with being a proven, stable owner of other sports teams.
Latics fans are calling out for somebody who has the money to provide financial stability long term for the club and preferably somebody with local ties is something i am frequently seeing stated (understandibly after a string of dodgy, self serving foreign owners). Danson is literally the richest Wiganer there is (surely) and could provide all those things, plus already maintains a working relationship in a sporting environment with the guy who ticks all the other boxes that Latics fans want (Lenagan).
At what point do the Latics fans stop cutting off their noses to spite their faces, put aside past grieviences (that just come across as childish and petty to be honest) and accept what xould possibly be the best possible scenario for them and is sitting right under their noses. Irregardless of whether it is even a valid option, and whether both Lenagan and Danson are even interested, i couldn't imagine being a fan of a sports club and being so disgusted by the prospect.
It just comes across as so weird from an outsiders perspective.

The belief amongst Latics fans that the rugby have always tried to put them out of business. Now that Latics have the upper hand with regards to the stadium they don't want to let go out that "power" and most of them have this conspiracy theory that IL would kick them out the stadium and leave them to die.
As you say, IL would be the perfect owner (or chairman) as he would keep the spending within budget and if he did overspend it would be a very manageable amount.

Baffles me at times as I'm sure it does NK.
Yes i have seen that one too about the kicking them the stadium, mind blowing thought process and pure paranoia
But yes i am sure Lenagan and Danson would be so much worse than the absolute chancer that is currently trying to buy them out. Maybe they would be better with the pop man.

I’d love it if Lenagan pulled something together with the likes of Danson and anybody else with a genuine interest in the club and the town (and some money). I just want stability and he’d bring that. I’m more than happy to follow the club in league one/two for the next however many years, as long as it’s sustainable and you’re not wondering when the next crisis will hit. The fact that the element of Latics fans who hate Lenagan and anything at all to do with the rugby, would walk away is fine by me. Their attitudes hold the club/town back.

If the Latics fans that hate the rugby leave there'll only be about 5 of you left won't there?

Probably
In truth I just mean the real morons on social media and any others that aren’t clever enough to be sensible. Plenty of Latics fans aren’t in that bracket and if they were promised local, stable ownership, I think they’d take it (or at least warm to it in time).
