If what you say is blow for blow correct, then I don't disagree. But in actual fact I don't believe it.
Even if IL did decide not to approach him with the truth (though what purpose that would serve, I can't imagine), is Nobby really going to be working at Wigan all season, hearing endless rumours, and never once going to request an audience with the chairman to demand an explanation?
Is Nobby the only person in Wigan who was not interested in finding out exactly what was going on re. his contract?
One thing Nobby is definitely good at is playing the press card. He may well be deeply upset at the way this has gone, so perhaps we can't blame him for trying to cast the club in a bad light, but I'm pretty sure that IL - or any chairman who doesn't want bad publicity - would initially have tried for an amicable separation, which would have required the compliance of both parties. I'd be very, very surprised if Nobby wasn't told about this before anyone else.
How long, for example, has he been talking to Celtic? I was told since about mid-summer. You don't do something like that without going first to your current employer and asking: "Have I got a future here or not?"
