Unbelievable bickering on here over this signing!
I'm a Salford fan (for my sins) and after having time to think about it, the move makes complete and utter sense in every way. I was a little perplexed at 1st as I think were pretty much giving up on the season but being a realist our chances of making the 8 are very slim anyway. Were receiving a transfer fee and losing his wages for the remainder of the season and it's not exactly a secret that were really struggling with our finances. If we don't have the funds to make any big signings next season (again, looks likely given our financial situation) then it's a good chance for young Sneyd to come in and get a good run of games in view of him being our permanent starter next season. Hey, we may even get to see a 47 year old Sean Long pull on Reds shirt for a few games!
I like Smith, he's solid if unspectacular but organises things extremely well. He'll also look a lot better behind a vastly superior pack to ours. Don't think many Salford fans will feel as wronged about the move as the Wire fan seems to be for some reason!
Best of luck to Matty, genuinely hope he goes well for you guys.

Thanks for a sensible post, and well said... As for SOME Wires fans, they have serious inferiority issues.
