I dont even want to get into one of my essay rants about Goulding but if he is our starting centre next season I am very concerned for us. He's poor in attack, in fact I have never seen him beat a man, his defence is suspect to say the least and his passing is non existant. Very dissapointed in us if he is number 3, which I have no doubt he will be.

I think people are being slightly harsh on Goulding, hes not as bad as some are making out. Hes not the long term answer though imo. Theres not many teams in SL next year though with two quality specialist centres is there?

Still think the best scenario is Josh Charnley at 3 with Amos Roberts playing right wing. Plenty pace and Roberts has good anticipation when playing right wing. Josh has the pace and physique to play centre, seems a natural fit to me.

Its even more depressing because he's still pretty young and he will stay there for the foreseable future, IL has a vision of having as many Wigan youngsters coming into the first team as possible, and Goulding fits that group. We should have gone for a centre instead of Lauaki IMO, even though I do think Lauaki may become a success our front row wasn't a position that needed much improvement. Our right side is worrying defensively, Goulding and Charnley.......oh god.

If there is one person that knows the potential of the Wigan trained lads it is Wane. If we are unable to recruit a centre then there is no point panic buying we still have options in the squad we currently have.

It may be less than ideal but again we can point to the market and the increase in cap in the NRL as a major indicator of where problems lie.

I would also doubt there would be much point throwing cash at a British based contracted centre as this would leave a club in the similar situation to us, with a gap to fill and nobody to fill it.

Saints haven't had two specialist centres since Talau left. We still get to the GF every year, so it can't hurt that much. There's not really any clubs, save perhaps Wire, that have any depth in this position.
