Leuluai, was a World Cup winner at #9 with New Zealand. Higham was one of the worst passing hookers I've ever seen, hence why Noble signed Millard who improved us considerably.
Ian Millwards decision to get rid of Newton and sign Higham has to be one of the poorest ever in Wigans history.

I know you’ve never been a fan of ‘1 trick mick’ as you used to call him but his passing was spot on in the game I watched.

One game in five hundred is probably about right?
Do you agree, we went backwards when he came and started to improve when we brought Shane Millard in. I know Noble wanted rid of him.

Yep. I was gutted Newton went, I was using Higham as an example of a player that left us 10 years ago and is 38 playing in the division below I’d have him back over Powell or Shorrocks.

We always seem to, but how many actually progress as expected? Waterworth was quality in the U19's but never made it. To his credit he's done well at Swinton and is still probably one of the most accurate passers of the ball at any level in this country. Ganson was also head and shoulders above most in the U19's and ended up going nowhere (well, Widnes, which is even worse).

Both Roden and Bourouh are promising players but both small and maybe a little short of the physicality needed to step up. Bourouh definitely looked a little out of his depth in the first team.

We can't really wait around for a good hooker to develop. It's an obvious weakness in our team given Leuluai is our best hooker and must be very close to being on his last legs.

Good point. Waterworths distribution was first class and I thought he would go all the way. Time will tell on Roden and Bourouh but I hope they get a chance, I know Bourouh got "hooked" at Salford for two bad passes. Higham would have been on the transfer list for the number he made.

I was a little bit surprised that Wane ditched Waterworth so quickly, given the way we played tended to have McIlorum throwing out some long passes from dummy half of the sort Waterworth can do so well. I can only assume he didn't have the defensive intensity Wane wanted. I do think that while not likely to become top class we could have kept hold of him and he'd have been a useful back up.

I think Dwyer is exactly the type of player we need.

Gutted we didn’t go for him when he joined Leeds, seems to be on an outer at Leeds despite being their best player.

Given the current situation I’d love him at Wigan.

There is a reason why Wire and now Leeds are getting rid, he is the type of player that catches the eye with scoots from dummy half and is great to come on against a tiring defence and have a dominant pack to work behind but we don’t have that and I don’t think we can afford to have his luxury in our team at the moment, we need an 80 minute hooker and even though he’s not been great this season and was frozen out by Furner at times I would much rather have Parcell, made the dream team in 2017 and still only 26, no reason he couldn’t get his best form back.
