Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid. Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal. Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.
There is a clear disconnect between the club and fans.
Everything the club is about at the minute is just so poor.
Releasing key players and replacing them with sub standard players. resigning atrocious players to improved contracts.
The dressing room just stinks at the minute. The players obviously think they rule the roost and because Lam is acting like one of them they are getting away with it. Dare I say it, but Wane wouldn't have stood for all the s**t!!
The chairman maintaining the current coach is still favourite for the job despite the fact that the team has no clear identity or playing style.
Weekly the club are putting up votes on Twitter and Facebook about the moment of the match from the week before, despite being humiliated in games and playing poorly.
When will they realise they need to pull a rabbit out of the hat for those who pay their wages and turn up for this team week in week out!!
My gut feeling is that Thursday will be an announcement of the double signing of Jake Bibby and Mitch Clark in a poor attempt to offset the loss of George Williams to Canberra (surely this must be announced soon).
If so it is dramatically and emphatically poor in ways that are almost unprecedented and, if there was any doubt left, proves what a lot of fans have been saying for a long time - even in the SW glory era, that Mr Lenaghan is trying to run this club on the cheap and in doing so has gradually and systematically destroyed the good practices Maguire and Wane instilled during their respective tenures and ultimately caused Wane to walk away (I’m not for one second believing his BS reasons).
If it’s another “Big One” it’s even worse.
The link that I keep seeing is Kallum Watkins; announces he’s leaving Leeds and on the same day Wigan announce an announcement on Thursday. Centre wouldn’t be a position I would look to replace at this stage, I think our props, hooker and half back needed looking at first but when a player of Watkins’ calibre becomes available it would be foolish not to have a look at it.
That does question the Bibby signing though, surely he won’t be signed as a centre unless Gildart is also leaving us. Not as a second rower either given our actual quality there, but rather as a winger in which case brings Manfredi’s future into question. We don’t need anymore back up wingers with Marshall and Davies occupying those roles (despite the latters broken leg), so therefore he’d be signed as a starting winger with the flexibility to move into centre as and when required.
I agree that there is a massive disconnection between club and supporters. It's been happening gradually for a few years now.
The next 2-3 years will be interesting to see how IL manages this transition period, do we strengthen the squad with quality to attempt to entice the missing 4-5k supporters back and aim for silverware?
Or does he continue to replace with players from the championship/lower SL clubs and NRL project's on lower pay whist allowing big earners to leave? Meanwhile the team aren't competing for trophies and crowds continue to fall.

Catch 22.
Or does he sell up?
Sell up. Simple as that. If he’s not willing to invest heavily in the coaching and playing staff - which is abundantly clear to all those with common sense, then he’s doing more harm than good. IL worked wonders for us when he came in and we can all be thankful to him for being the catalyst turning us from mediocre to champions. Unfortunately that is now reversing itself, evidenced by this seasons playing standards and playing staff on the roster. Whilst our rivals in Warrington and Saints continually invest in the right staff resulting in some outstanding performances and results on the pitch, we invest in poor SL players/Championship players and retain our poor players whilst letting go our stars.
Unless he is able and willing to invest in the squad then he should be willing to listen to any interested parties (if there are any).
If he isn’t willing to sell and not able to increase investment then he needs to start being honest and cut the politicians spin. If we let Williams, Leuluai and whoever else go next season and bring in Bibby, Clark and a panic halfback signing and then get told we’re up to the cap I might just toss it in for a spell. If he admits we’re cost cutting and can’t afford big signings and we’re spending under the cap then I’m more then happy to keep backing the team and I’ll fully understand our plight.
I'm away on holiday with terrible Internet, have the club stated there will be an announcement Thursday?
Still manage to get on here though eh?
Yes. Few rumours circulating;
- Kallum Watkins signing - Bibby and Clarke signing - Another “Big One”
All amongst the most popular. I’d imagine any announcement would coincide the GW departure though. It’s our style to announce so called good news with the bad.
