1 year deal for Budgie seems strange but I’m not against it, we have been burned recently with long term deals and it’s not like football where we are missing out on mega bucks with a player leaving at the end of their contract.

Was initially a 2 year deal with club option for 3rd...changed to a straight 1 year deal. Read into that what you will

Yes it is but we are we incapable of tying down anyone with clear talent to a long term deal? The 1yr deal screams “NRL 2021”.

A 4 day wait to announce a signing we already knew had happened is poor, dress it up all you want. There may well be more announcements today, I’d imagine Bibby would be one and Lam to be confirmed another. Doesn’t exactly spark excitement nor that we are serious about catching up our nearest rivals in 2020.

Happy to be proved wrong and apologise at the end of the day.

As much as I like Budgie I’m not sure many will want him in the NRL or there be a Superleague club willing to pay him mega wages.

I’m not dressing it up. The club said things were happening on Thursday and they seem to be, yet a number of fans started kicking off at 9AM. Just wait till the end of the day and if it’s underwhelming then moan about it, but jumping on here at 9AM stinks of moaning to suit an agenda.

I agree one year isn’t ideal but it’s better than no years. Sport is cyclical, you can’t win everything all the time. Our nearest rivals you talk about (Saints, Warrington?) have had nowhere near the success we have over the last ten years. One bad year and everyone has turned on the club.

Likewise I’m happy to proven wrong/naive, but I’m pretty sure we’ll be back at the top sooner rather than later.

In that bad year the club seems to have given up the ghost and treating the fans with contempt, that’s why we are angry and turning on certain people.

Exactly, the disillusion and negativity in a nutshell is down to two reasons - poor level of entertainment and the level of disrespect/contempt being shown by senior management.

I'm not sure the majority of fans could care less about the level of success at the moment - we've won plenty in the last decade. If the club starts recognising their mistakes, they make a commitment to change / get back to treating their fanbase the right way and we improve the level of entertainment that's provided on the field, then we'll start to see a change in the overall mood.

At least I’ve not seen anybody complain about re-signing Smithies for four years. I’d have given up.
