I think Peet said the red card was irrelevant as he was refusing to get drawn into criticising it this making not sound like sour grapes and landing himself a fine. If he thought it was the correct decision he would have said so. A player sent off can almost never be irrelevant.I get the reasoning behind it but sometimes there’s little the defender can do about it, Sironen was going down, yes the defender still has a duty of care but he can’t disappear or pull out in a fraction of a second. Common sense should be applied imo & it should have been a yellow. No malice in it though.
It was a good, exciting and intense game, the stats after the first 20 showed it was a level above the other games. Both teams were playing well overall and defences were strong. It was only when players tired the game opened up a bit. The two differing styles were evident.
Ultimately lost ball and forced offloads cost us and gave them the position from which they capitalised. It’s hard to criticise that, as it would partly be fatigue and partly the high risk strategy which has seen us win a lot of games and score some wonderful tries.
Peet spoke about learning lessons, I think that applies to him to. This was the wrong game to start Cust on his return, I was very surprised when I saw him on the team sheet. Do we know why KPP was left out?
