Yep, south of France is around 30% cheaper than Sydney. Not that he will take a 30% pay cut, likely still on ~£400k.

Theres no guarantee that he will be awesome, Remember Matty Johns and other top players who have come over and failed

Hand to heart - i'd rather Maloney.

Purely on the basis that he is coming here knowing his NRL days are up, and thus likely to fulfill his contract. I dont think anyone of us are convinced Hastings is here for more than 1 year, thus we'll be back in the same boat 12 months from now.

It depends on how much we would have to pay them. Maloney is a very good payer, but is one of the most penalised and has a very poor missed tackle count in the NRL.

It's also the big tax incentives in France, one of the reasons Sam Tomkins moved there.

That's what I was alluding to so as you've come out and said it I'll expand a bit further

On exactly the same wages ST could be around 75k a year better off in his pocket than being at Wigan (As you say, one of the reasons our new contract offer wasn't taken up by ST as on the same wages we offered him he'd be far better off)

If Maloney was to come to SL then we at Wigan would need to offer him around 100k a year more than Catalans for him to end up with the same money in his pocket.

It played a BIG Part in ST's decision - And I don't blame him one bit!

Really looking forward to seeing maloney play in sl next season, good on them for getting such a quality player over!
