We have a spot but as things stand it doesn’t look like Leeds or Warrington do. You’d guess Hull do then unbelievably it sounds like Maloney is Catalans first (can’t be right that with Tomkins on the books and guys like Bird and Kasiano there as well).

I'm surprised Sam isn't. Think Bird retired, and big Sam was looking for a living after Storm got rid, so they don't surprise me.
They must be 'brown paper bagging' over there in France.

Aye Bird has called it quits but I think the call was they’d never had one. I’ve no issue regardless, I’m of the school that thinks if teams have the finance they should be able to spend it. We’ve lost too many good players from this comp.

Because of the eye gouging incident and the fact he doesn’t want to play against his brothers means Nrl clubs aren’t interested in him, Wigan have offered him a marquee three year deal close to 300k a year, wether he accepts that or someone else comes in with a higher bid I don’t know

You’d hope so but honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if things stayed as they where crowd wise,times are tight for most folk and I’d say it’s wrong to assume a coupe of new players in and it’ll be standing room only at the DW,I hope that I’m wrong but once you lose the habit of going to the game it’s a hard one to get back

I think people want to be entertained.

It’s a lot of money to shell out to be bored stuff for most of the season.

Bringing in players like Hastings, French and Burgess will add to our offering on the entertainment front which to be fair now seems to be improving significantly now Lam seems to be stamping his style on the team.

I don’t think the passion for the game has died much, hence the turn out at the Grand Final so X factor players signing like thosev3 I’ve no doubt will have a positive impact on crowds.

We may not be hanging the full house signs up but I’d expect to see an increase of over 1000 on this year IF we can secure their signatures.

Create a buzz and get a decent home game first up and you build from there crowd wise. It needs good rugby and wins to keep people coming back but you stand more chance from a good base and with exciting signings on board.

It’s a big if but say French and Burgess come in, if I were Wigan I’d be in to the RFL asking for a home game against somebody like Wire first up. They’ll have Widdop, we’d have Hastings and if things worked out Burgess and I think we’d comfortably break 20,000. You play well and there’s a buzz to come back. On the flip side you sign a couple of championship players, start away from home and then play Wakey, Huddersfield etc first up and just scrape past 10,000.

I completely agree, but sadly no matter who you start against the Hudds game is always going to come. Next year it could be even worse with Hudds, London, Cats and Toronto all in the league. That's probably a total of 300 away fans max!

If only every game could be Hastings Vs Widdop or potentially Burgess Vs Walmsley.

It would for sure and that’s why the rugby needs to eventually be something people look forward to turning up to watch. The aim would have to be to increase the crowds by an average of 1,500 plus. Over the course of the season that would bring in a few hundred grand and pay for a player like Burgess on its own. The signing alone wouldn’t do it though, the rugby would need to be good.

Genuine question- Is George that good? People are saying he will be the best prop in the league? I’m not so sure. He would no doubt be our best but I’m not sure he’s the type of prop (workhorse) we are crying out for, always though Tom was the better of the twins too.
