He’d be a great signing given his ability but let’s not kid ourselves the only reason he may be available is he is on the way out from Oz is due to his discipline issues.

They aren’t on the same level as those that made Hardaker available but if he is available, it’s not necessary his choice to be so.

That said there will be a queue to sign him and so if IL can pull off signing him that would go a long way to satisfying my and others scepticism over recruitment.

I do in fairness share the scepticism and agree entirely if IL/KR pull it off it will be a big tick and a strong rebuttal at their critics.

If Burgess comes off you can bet your bottom dollar it will come at the expense of say Lockers. If he does sign then I’ll take back what I say about Lenagan being tighter than a submarine door.

Until we have an official announcement I'm trying my best to keep my excitement to a minimum. I have to say though that's getting harder by the min.

Let's not undersell this - it's the biggest SL prop signing since Morley came back or JP went to Leeds. Absolutely huge imo

It would be a very odd move from Lam and the club to speak to the media about it in such detail if it wasn’t a done deal in my opinion.

Agree with you John but Lam can have the odd wobble e.g. Sarginson is the best FB in the world., when doing press interviews.
I did ask the guy about French and he stated that Wigan have made an approach but he was unaware if he had actually signed.

Hopefully no more outgoing first team players and another prop would do me nicely

I wouldn’t have a huge issue if they've got their heads together with Lockers, when they’ve seen this opportunity crop up and it’s been mutually agreed he’ll move on to the coaching staff next season. If we can have both then fantastic but if you offered me a 12 month extension for Lockers or a 3 year deal for Burgess, I’d choose Burgess because he softens the blow of Lockers retirement and you don’t know what quality player would be available in 12 months time, when Lockers will surely call it quits anyway.
