Seeing him on the left wing last Thursday at the DW, against a big club he decided to leave because he wasn’t getting to play in the half’s was pretty ironic. I mentioned him as a potential cheap option at stand off a few weeks back and I certainly wouldn’t kick up a fuss if Wigan decided to take a punt but nothing ever seems straightforward with him when it comes to signing for or staying at clubs.

He's been good at Wakey when I've seen him, and IMO would be a better halfback partner for Hastings than Leuluai. I can understand why they've been using him at FB when they have Miller and Brough, but we aren't in that situation.

I think he's the personification of the 'kid who is badly advised'.

Someone somewhere has been guiding his career in completely the wrong direction.

He's clearly not as good as he thought he was going to be, but I personally think he's good enough to make a mark in SL and I'd be happy to see him back at Wigan. However, this 'I must play in the halves' routine has to end. Don't get me wrong. I'd certainly give him a go in the halves, but you can't have some office junior laying down the law about where he plays.

The problem, I suspect, is that IL wouldn't be interested. Sounds like Hampshire caused the club quite a bit of grief before they finally decided to get rid.

No, no and no.

Not seem anything in Hampshire in the slightest which would make we want us to sign him. There's such better uses for the salary cap.
I'd go as far to say if he hasn't been part of our club previously no one would be mentioning him at all.

I remember when Hampshire was more highly thought of in the academy than Williams.

One has been Wigan’s number 6 for 5 years. Played in 4 grand finals winning 2. Represented England. Marque contract and now going to test himself in Aus.

The other plays on the Wing for Wakefield.

How anyone could think Hampshire would be a good option is beyond me! He can’t get a regular gig in his position playing for a team fighting for their lives to stay in the competition.

It’s because he was so impressive for the juniors and it seemed him and George would be destined to be our future half back pairing. The reality is most of the people championing him probably didn’t even watch the juniors or very little at the most, It was the popular view on this forum at the time a bit like Kibula 18 months ago when everyone was crying out for us to get him in just because he’s a big lad. (Although that view seems to have gone full circle now)
