Imo there's still a lot of fat to be trimmed from the squad. From what we've heard it's not unreasonable to think that Escare, Navarrette and Clubb you will be costing us in the region of £150k+. Without sounding too harsh on Navarrette and Clubb - can we really say that's value for money? It's a marquee level % of the cap gone on three guys who don't play regular games.

There's also out and out wingers + Bibby taking up a decent chunk of the cap too.

If Escare is on 100k plus I’m pretty sure Naverette and Clubb are not on 50k between them. My guess is those 3 are on at least 250k between them. The reality is that Escare won’t play next year and unless we have an injury crisis I don’t think Navarette and Clubb will be in the side together. That 250/300k would be much better spent on 1 quality prop.

The club are working hard at moving Morgan on but so far immediate moves to Toronto (with the potential to hook up with his pal Miloudi) and Cas both fell through so I am not sure what else they can do. He was guaranteed first team rugby at both these clubs

The harsh reality of it is that Morgan has let Morgan down. That is all. He was given a new contract and the #1 shirt last year yet from day one of preseason (by all accounts) put very little desire and effort into establishing himself ahead of Zak. The real downfall has been his attitude since losing his place and that is why I believe his comments on Twitter yesterday are rubbish.

See my earlier post. None of us really know what the guys are on, so I put in a purposely low figure for both of them. You're right tho, they will probably be on a lot more.

I also don't think we need another top prop. With the squad we have I'd be more than happy with one more experienced guy, who is better than RN and plays more games than Clubb. An Andy Coley type prop who just goes about his business week in, week out and flies under the radar.

I think Navarette is under rated and more often than not has done a solid job for us over the last 2 years. Not missed many games either.

Might not be first choice next year but more than happy to have him in the squad.

The 2 year Clubb renewal was the more puzzling one. Though for all we know he could be an incredible leader/motivator behind the scenes.

If only we could have offloaded Escare and not given Clubb his renewal deal would probably have enough for someone like Fifita.

You put one of the younger lads in, I would certainly have a star backed up with a junior over 2 say ‘average’ players.

Next season we have:

Burgess
Flower
Clark
Bullock
Clubb
Navarette
Partington
Havard
Kibula
Field
With Lockers and Isa who can also cover prop. Losing one out of the depth chart to improve the first team would be a better way to go imo.

Bit of a left field one here, but what about Hamlin's wages?

He's more than likely gone, but I assume the club have to have a contingency should he be found innocent?

He's probably the exact type of prop I described earlier.
