I’m happy with what we have. A steady leader at six in Leuluai, the best halfback in the league at seven and the best up and coming junior halfback in the league in Harry Smith. We’ve also got back up after that from Sammut, Woods and Shorrocks but I guess at least one will go.

Tommy’s been a great servant for the club but he shouldn’t be anywhere near the 6/7 shirt next year, have him backup for Powell on the bench and use Smith/Sammut in the halves with Hastings

Maybe I’m over estimating Hastings abilities but he looks that dominant that Leuluai could be a good foil for him next year. Hastings will dictate the play and Tommy can concentrate on keeping it nice and simple from six. I remember him having a very good season at six for the Warriors alongside Shaun Johnson. I’d go Leuluai at 6, Hastings at 7 and try and get plenty of opportunities for Smith and Bourouh next year.

Agree with everything bar the usage of Sammut. He should be nowhere near this team.

Agree Sammut shouldn't be anywhere near the team but some aspects of our game are that dreadful he looks the best man for the job at times.

He has decent pace, a quick thinker and a better kicking game than anyone in the squad from 1-25.

That last aspect was terrible in 2019. When in those last three games did our end of set kick split the opposition's back three? Sammut killed Wakey with his kicking and their forwards were shot after 20 mins with the game gone.

Next year though looks like we'll have either Tommy or Harry Smith with Hastings at half back. As long as they take the kicking away from TL I can live with that.

Really don't get the Sammutt bashing, in the few games he played we were a miles better team than when Tommy and George were our halves.

Because he’s not a top level SL half back whatsoever. He’s a bottom of the table SL/top of the championship HB. We’ve a far better player and prospect coming through in Harry Smith to continue wasting money on sub standard players. And the same can be said for a few more in our squad too.

I’m sick to death of people backing sub standard players. We can continue to recruit them and we’ll end up doing a Leeds or we can set our standards where they should be, bloody high, and win trophies next season and the season after and so on and so forth.

Smith should be the starting 7 next year but Sammut should be ahead of Tommy in the halves, Sammut is an average SL halfback but he possesses far more quality and pace in attack than Leuluai. Tommy is the best defender in the league and quite possibly the world but his attack is poor at best and the lesss said about his kicking on the last the better

It’s a shame in many ways that Harry Smith hasn’t got 8-10 games under his belt this year. If he had then I wouldn’t have been against throwing him in alongside Hastings. When you consider how good Hastings is that would’ve taken the pressure off him but with just 25 mins first team rugby at the back of him that looks impossible.

"Prospect" being the key word. I'm all for giving him more game time next year but come on, having him as a starting half behind a so far unproven pack, no pressure there.

Have to agree with you,I’d be amazed if Sammut is still at Wigan come seasons start as the club seem to want to move him on,so it’ll all become moot anyway.
