I would think we would need to move on a good few more players such as Sammut, Escare and Navarrett prior to thinking we can realistically look at bringing in any proven quality.

The sooner we get rid of Escare the better, from what I’ve heard he’s on over 100k a season which is shocking for what he’s contributed, his release alone could bring in a quality player

He'll likely stay at Wigan for the money and I don't blame him. We can't sulk when players break their contracts and then get mad when others want to see their contracts out.
Maybe they could get him out on loan again and ask a club to pay a proportion of his salary.

Have to admit that I disagree on this one and I see Escare as the lowest of the low.
It's very rare that money is the number one factor in people breaking their contracts. Normally it's due to being home sick or wanting to play in the NRL. Whilst I've been gutted about it when players have left, I've never thrown my toys out of the pram like other fans have.
This Escare situation, imo, is a whole different kettle of fish and is all about money. He's not bothered about his career, the club or anything else imo. We as fans can see there's deficiencies in the side, but the club can't do anything whilst Escare milks a % of the cap.
You only need to look at someone like Tom Davies to see what you should do if you aren't getting picked. He had a four year deal, but wanted to leave so he could play. Mitch Clarke left Cas to play for Leigh when he was told he wasn't wanted. He already had a deal lined up with us and could have put his feet up for 6 months.

I have sympathy with views and agree with you to a point, but simply the club shouldn’t have offered such a long contract to him he was at best a squad player,a little above average but nothing more than that.
I’ve no doubt he will sit on his deal and wind it down he’s certainly entitled to do so but as you say look at Tom Davies,he too on a long deal didn’t mess the club around and asked for a move,I’d sooner that than a player doing nowt really in the grand scheme of things, let’s hope for him as well as the club a loan deal can be sorted out for him it’s a short career to be sitting doing nothing

I agree with this entirely. When his deal is up he will feel the effects of not playing and clinging on to a good wage until the bitter end and he’s out of work. If he wishes to further his career, or rebuild it, he must move on whether that’s to a lower SL side, the Championship or the French league. If he’s not careful his greed will end his professional career and he’ll be back in France working Monday - Friday.

Spot on. He's being stupid and short sighted.
*Made up numbers* but if say he's currently on £100k he certainly won't be on that in 12 months, that's unless he goes out and proves he's a £100k player.
Apart from a bit of cash, not one other part of this situation is benefiting him.
Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid. Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal. Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.

Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

Spot on. People should blame the club for offering him the contract, not him for wanting them to honour it. He said he wants to stay and fight for a spot and that's fair enough IMO.
