If it's because he wants to remain in Australia and be with his family then fair enough. He made no secret of his desire to return to Australia so if that's where he wants to stay now that he's gone back home for a bit then we'll just have to look for someone else.

That's the impression I get from the article. If it turns out he's wanting to stay at Salford or remain in Super League with someone else then the club should dig their heels in because that would be poor.

I'm assuming if it's true he'll be NRL-bound.

Could be some weight to it, I mean have you seen any Hastings interviews yet about him joining Wigan. If he is a marquee signing then why aren’t the club using him as a marketing tool? But there’s nothing about him whatsoever. The club needs to interview him and get something to the fans otherwise they are seriously going to damage theirs and the clubs reputation if this signing doesn’t come off.

His lack of comments about the club are alarming. I don’t think I’ve heard the word ‘Wigan’ come out of his mouth once yet. Also the Sun May be a joke paper but Gary Carter seems a decent bloke.

We’re in a bit of a mess halfback wise if this doesn’t come off. Wonder if that panic signing we made last year to play in the halves can come back from Leigh?!

Didn’t realise it was posted in here (posted in the Hastings topic too).

I still think he’ll be a Wigan player but for just the one season. It’s obvious he wants to go back to Australia so that begs the question why did we bother? If he doesn’t come this would be an absolute PR disaster and following on from the Shaun Edwards saga would be a huge embarassment.

If the club has had wind of this in any way i don't think they would have off loaded Sammut this week .

Easier said than done though. He isn’t a marquee player anymore and would command a hefty salary, one which entices him away from the South of France. Joel has just signed for Catalans and they do have quite a promising squad. As much as I like that idea the likelihood of it happening are about as remote as you can get.
