Anybody else heard about the proposed potential reduced deal with Sky for 2021 rumour?
It wouldn't surprise me but would worry me if true.
It wouldn't remotely surprise me either. Substandard coaching, best players leaving at the age of 22 (or younger), too many ramshackle stadia, crowds so small that they wouldn't be out of place in the 1970s.
Perhaps we can persuade the BBC to screen half of one match each week.
I’m not keen on Amazon Prime at all, don’t get me wrong the football coverage over Xmas was good but a lot of fans signed up for free and cancelled again once it had finished. I just think going that way makes the sport inclusive rather than exclusive. I’m already signed up to Prime so it won’t cost me any extra if we did btw.
Good luck on Saturday v Edinburgh Eagles, gutted I can’t get there and those twitter messages have been brilliant!

The offer is I have been led to believe "game changing" in that if it is the only offer available then major structural changes would have to be made within the game.
I believe that there is a meeting next week at the club to get views on what changes may have to occur.
Elstone has been very quiet of late and I'm wondering if that is because there are no other offers on the table at the moment.
Elstone not boasting to the public about potential offers so basically the game is buggered.
Eternal pessimists.
I’d be significantly more concerned if he was shouting from the rooftops the opportunities we have during a period of negotiations.
Just a thought, rather than slag the deal off before we have any details of it, let’s let the process run it’s course and then praise or slate it once we have the facts rather than negative speculation.

Completely agree jonh.
I trust more in Elstone that I do or did the RFL. Let the process run it’s course and then we can be judge, jury and executioner to our hearts content.
Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

Yes, a big giveaway was a year or so ago during the breakaway. The scenarios offered to the Championship clubs were 'if it stays the same' and 'if it reduces', they didn't even consider an increase option. There's other information I've been privy to which I can't share that indicates a reduction too, but in short yes, definitely expecting a reduced offer. Not sure what I'd do if I were the RFL, and not confident they know either. All very well talking about Amazon, BT etc but it only works if they're interested.

You're right about BT and Amazon its fine to be bandying their names about but if they're not interested, and certainly with Amazon I don't see the sport being a fit for them, then you're left with Sky,so I suspect while everyone has holed at how poor the current deal is it may well end up being the work of a financial whizkid by comparison to this deal coming up.
Hopefully we can get a decent deal, to be honest the value of SL decreased when SKY started showing live football on Friday evenings.
In days gone by SL matches would be on pub screens up and down the country. Now we are not only competing with Premier League games but football on all levels.
I posted a couple of years ago on the Leeds board that the current deal was likely to be the last decent one, if we got an offer at all, and was scoffed at. The fact that it came directly from a Sky executive was also scoffed at. This has been coming for some time.
The break away was largely about this and an attempt to make the game more attractive to Sky. I guess we'll find out just how successful that's been very shortly. Personally I think it came too late.
