One would imagine the specialist could lose his/her medical license if they were fraudulent. Likewise I'm sure the insurance company would investigate/take the player or specialist to court if they smell a rat. Plus, you know, most players won't want to lose a season's worth of playing time out of a finite career.

Its not even March yet, lets enjoy this season first and let the powers work out the rest. Most of next years business will already be done.

Agreed. If you are targeting a second row from Cas Holmes is the one I’d want.

McMeekan a couple of decent years but that was a while ago now. Done very little since ‘17.

McMeekan is just an example of the type of forward I think we should target. Big, athletic and strong running. I’d be happy with an overseas signing.

Souths are paying him his wage for the rest of his contract in a number of payments.

The medical retirement from the NRL was sought in order to have those payments withdrawn from the salary cap.

I’m not saying it will happen by the way but I wouldn’t be shocked if it did.

McMeeken is decent, but he’s in a strange position contract-wise.
When he signed his current contract in 2017, he was the best back-rower in SL and a current England international. Now, he’s neither of these, so he’s not going to command the kind of money he did in 2017.
McMeeken thinks he deserves a pay rise. Cas don’t. I doubt anyone else will match his current salary.
I’d like to keep him, but it’s not going to be a massive hole for us to fill if he leaves.
