I think the NRL will have to take some sort of hit money wise so I agree the days of big contracts may be over for a while

Joe Greenwood has ‘returned’ from Leeds due to financial constraints. I emphasise returned as no one has really returned yet. I do like JG to an extent, I hope he can actually kick on and show the form he showed when he first arrived. Whether there’s a place for him is another matter...

Hopefully it’ll be a re-set for him and us and things go in a positive direction. The guy has masses of talent but he really needs to try and knuckle down and take a chance when it comes his way. Who knows how the season will look if and when it comes back but if there are numerous fixtures a month to play, he’s going to get a chance and he needs to show that he wants a career here. We could do with a 6ft 4, 17 stone, quick back row forward but we need that player to look motivated by the challenge of earning a place in the side and not to just go through the motions.

From what I’ve been told Greenwood will be back at Leeds permanently next season.

No loss in my opinion.

I agree, he has been a frustratingly disappointing signing. he has all the attributes to be a world class player apart from the most important ones - wish we could give him the heart and desire that willie isa has. but as we see time and time again, that can’t be coached. He will probably play well against us (like he did for us vs. Saints) then flop.

Watched the 2018 super 8 games highlights at the weekend and Greenwood looked good, only highlights but he can be an asset if he can get back to those type of performance

He was signed as Batemans replacement. So assuming he’s on very good money. Disaster signing.

His attitude in the couple of reserves games I saw was appalling. Just sulking.

Use his wage for a run at Mike McMeeken (right sided second row to complement Farrell on the left).

Although I reckon Wire will sign McMeeken to replace BMM

With the financial situation being as dire as it is I can't see the club spending big money bringing in new players.
When the season returns with probably two games a week club's reserves will be used to a large extent.
Seeing as we have the best youth set up in RL then I have a feeling that younger players on the fringe of first team rugby will be given their chance and I'm sure some will take it.
2020 will not be a good year to be OOC. All clubs will be cutting costs where they can and the wage bill will be the first place to find savings.

It thought that when I saw he was OOC. I don’t think he’ll be particularly expensive given his comeback from 2 knee injuries but therein lies a huge risk too. I think he’s worth signing but the price has to be right
