Yeah he’s really come on Evalds these past two years. It’s a really positive sign for him and Cas that he hasn’t just fallen away now he’s not got Hastings to play on the back of. You can’t knock Cas in regards recruitment. They’ve done some very shrewd business over the years with Evalds following signings like Richardson, Trueman, Watts, McShane and so on. They don’t seem to make too many bad decisions although it’s yet to transfer itself to real success.

Cas fans seem to think McMeeken has already agreed to join Wire. I’m not too fussed, the last couple of seasons he hasn’t set the world alight but also I would have been happy had he joined.
People wanting Currie are optimistic to say the least, if Wire have given up on him after bringing him through why would we want him? It would be a massive risk. He’s similar to Manfredi, brilliant player but his body isn’t up to it. When he’s your own player and you have brought him through you give them extra chances but I don’t think you actively look to bring them to your club. Hopefully they can both turn it round like Lomax has done at Saints after numerous injuries when younger but the odds aren’t great for either.

McMeeken rumoured to be on a big wage given he was the starting England second row when he signed his last contract.

I wouldn’t be against him joining us but also wouldn’t be bothered if we didn’t. Think there are players out there who present less risk financially for potentially more reward.

Wire seem to be favourites and wherever he ends up I hope it kicks start his career again as it seems to have plateaued the last couple of seasons.

I’d think Bringing Evalds in is definitely an indication he won’t be at Cas next year and they are starting to spend the cap space now to strengthen in an area they have struggled since Hardaker left them.

I’d be happy at the signing of McMeeken or Currie to be honest, both could be shrewd signings given the stage of their careers and both could probably do with a change. Having said that I’d be happy if we didn’t either given we do have strength in depth in the back line.

Didn’t we offer him a deal last season which he said tempted him? I would much rather have him over McMeeken.
