No surprise that Gildart is off really. I think we need to splash the cash to replace him because we don't have any quality centres aside from him IMO

Bloke on NRL on fox saying Bateman is talking to Wigan about a return next year. Getting messed about big time by the Aussie media and might want to be close to daughter.

Can’t see it but a marquee salary, the number 13 shirt and the captaincy may tempt him back

I honestly can't get my head around any discussion regarding signings for next year. Clubs are faced with the prospect of losing all of their season ticket income if crowds aren't allowed in next year as expected. How can any SL club contemplate splashing out on an expensive new player? I would imagine a lot of clubs will be grateful if some of their top earners are off contract next year so they can get them off the books or renegotiate terms. Plus does anyone really care about the quality of our squad when the future of the club and sport itself is unknown?

If someone offered me a scenario for the next 5 years in which Wigan would win no trophies but we would have a stable club and viable full time SL competition I'd snap their hand off.

If the Yorkshire mafia had their way the salary cap would be lowered to national minimum wage levels and the pots would be shared between Leeds (getting 4 out of every 5) and the likes of Cas, Wakey and Huddersfield would get the odd one here and there.

As for Bateman you’d have to think it’s a non event. One day it would be great to have him back here captaining the side but for now I think his stock has risen to levels beyond clubs means over here, especially given the current climate. He’ll have his pick of teams pretty much and he’s in a very good one as things stand. The hope for us has always been the pull of his family and in particular his daughter but I see him doing at least two more years after this.

I think we will see Bateman back for us next year. It must be horrible being on the other side of the world worrying about your daughter with what has gone on. Sometimes it isn't about money

Where has it been said that games will be played behind closed doors next year?
If that is the case then most competitive sports will not survive
I think we will see spectators back before the end of the year as people won’t put up with such restrictions if they are back at work etc
