I thought Gaskell looked like the organising halfback of the pair last season although I tended to be of a minority view (nothing new there!). It was his first season at first grade last season and he had an awful lot of pressure on him which occasionally undermined him but with more experience he will become more consistent.

In 2011 Gaskell signed a three year contract with Saints. I think Lomax is up for contract renewal at the end of 2012 but since we have just made him our starting 7 it is unlikely that he will be going anywhere else anytime soon. Wheeler's contract is up at the end of 2012 and if his fitness doesn't improve then I could well see Saints giving up and letting him go.
