Agree mate, Tolman has been quality. Looked a class above Luke Thompson - I know he's had his issues though.
Tolman for me is the workhorse prop. The type that will grind out the hard yards and make the big defensive efforts and go under the radar. The type of prop who you don’t really notice when he’s playing, but really miss when he’s not. He’d be a cracking signing but as others have said we’d need Clubb & Flower to exit.
There's a definite disparity in the makeup of our squad. You look at Flower and Clubb and think one quality player would easily offer the same output as those two do.
We've plenty of numbers, but a proper lack of quality imo.

Our go forward took a hit when Clubb and Flower came on for certain. A first choice of Tolman, Singleton, Bullock and Havard would be superb

It's up to the club to do something about it. Hope Flower doesn't extend with us (ideally Toronto are back next year) then get rid of Clubb in twelve months.

Is flower out of contract this off season? I wasn’t sure if it was an early deal to go to Toronto. Another player who might be surplus over in Oz is James Roberts, had injuries but is only 27 and is an ex SOO centre, maybe Gildarts replacement?
What you have clearly failed to notice is that the game has moved on since you started watching. That's not me having a swipe at longstanding fans, Rogues has been watching since they played with a pigs bladder too, the difference is he hasn't just sat round banging on about the old days. Instead he's actually kept up with the game and knows that these days we have a salary cap, a scouting system that extends beyond sending someone to watch Pats and that there is still a lot to enjoy about the modern game whilst remaining nostalgic for the Central Park days.
It has always extended beyond watching Wigan St Patricks with scouts in Cumbrial and Yorkshire as well as Lancashire.
And many supporters go on about the old days at Central Park because it was full of characters, more variety in play with better and more atmosphere than what there is today at the DW Stadium.
When the cat has tasted the cream, milk is not the same!

You know, he never impresses me. Yeah, he's quick, but he seems to get injured a lot (how many games has he played in the last few seasons?), and drifts out of games alarmingly. He certainly hasn't pulled up any trees at Souths. I very much doubt he'd want to come anyway.

Nostalgia isnt what it used to be either.
Another post without a point. Decrying the scouts for not selecting local lads followed by a post praising scouts in the past for scouting lads from? Other places.
Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

Most idiotic post ever goes to Grimmy..... The way to restart should be an arm wrestle between a designated player from each side.

Well I don't have a time machine. Go back to your VHS's of the glory days and let the rest of us enjoy today.

Baffled
I am not decrying the scouts for not signing local lads, only saying that Wigan have scouts in Cumbria and Yorkshire, even the London area and Wales for years.
If the club is not signing local lads like they use to do, it could mean that there are not as many young lads in Wigan interested in playing the game like there use be or in the case of those who are, are not talented enough due to not getting the same level of coaching which again is due to less people including former players wanting to be involved in the game at the grassroots level.
Wigan schools, especially St John Fisher no longer dominate the schools game at all age levels like they did in the past and at amateur level, there are not as many teams as there used to be in the North West Counties League, not as many Trophy Winners or Finalists, no Ken Gee Cup Competition and even the famous Wigan St Patricks club is no longer in the Premier Division of the National Conference League.
Some need to get rid of the arrogant attitude that outside the Warriors, all is well with the game of Rugby League in Wigan.

St. Peters have done very well at school levels with many of their players going on to do well at pro level. The other school who always feature is Cas academy.
