Don’t misunderstand me, I still think Lam needs time and I believe he will turn our season around and we’ll be competitive. If we are, I’d be happy for him to stay on but beyond any shadow of doubt, our squad needs a major injection of quality and that will only come through funding.

For me, although I'm very angry about the Edwards situation - my main concern is that it distracts from the very real prospect of us losing our Super League status next year. We're in a big hole and I hope the club recognise that. 2020 should be way down the priority list at the moment.

I think it’s a bit premature to be worrying about relegation just yet, for both Wigan and Leeds. There’s such a long way to go yet we have shown signs against Saints, Roosters and Wire to say we will be OK. Of course I’m not saying it won’t happen, but a few months of the same form before it becomes “very real” in my opinion.

I think we should draw a line under this whole sorry Edwards affair, IF he does come, there will be to much distrust on both sides to provide a good relatonship between club and coach. Instead we should try to appoint Ian Watson now, and let Lammy go home while there is still a big part of this season left and still something to play for (and he will be cheaper than Taffy Edwards).
This will allow him to assess who needs to be chopped for 2020.

It’s why I’d probably go for Danny Ward if we’re going to continue cutting the wage bill. We’ll lose the dispensations Williams and Lockers get if they both go at the end of the year and you’d imagine another decent earner in Tommy will retire as well, so all the indications are that the wage bill will continue to be trimmed.

If that is the case you need to start forging a real backs to the wall spirit in the tram and Ward has done that brilliantly at London so far.

I agree, I’d give it until after the Easter period before any thoughts of relegation creeps in. Teams who are relegated usually cop good hidings most weeks and whilst we didn’t deserve to win any of the games we’ve lost, theoretically we could’ve won every single one. A missed Lachlan Coote knock on when we were on top at Saints hurt, a missed conversion against Hull cost us that win, a knock on for a certain try against London lead to us going 8 behind rather then 2 points up, Tautai killed us against Huddersfield and if Thaler hadn’t been conned by the Wire players with 7 minutes left on Friday we’d have had a shot on their line at 13 men vs 11.

As I say we didn’t really deserve any of them and the better team won on each and every occasion but we just need a turn in fortune to try and build some momentum.

12 vs 11.

Incidently has Jackie Edwards been on this forum yet? I understand that he likes to have a say whenever his lad is in the news.

Nicky, surely the first ambition of any club is to have the ability to pay up to the cap? By referring to “cutting the wage bill” am I to infer that we are or will be paying under the cap and, if so, that this is a strategic decision? If true that is an outrage for a club the size of Wigan. First team comes first, surely? All the poncing about with extraneous activities (if spending on such detracts from investment in the squad) should be secondary imo.

If he's any sense, he'll be keeping a very low profile indeed.
