| In Lam's interview on Radio Manchester he spoke about Field, Bateman, Marshall, Manfredi and Havard coming into the side next year but no mention of G.Burgess.

All those players were unavailable for the final. Burgess was available but not selected.

We'll see I guess. Clark, Hankinson and Woods all asked to find other clubs according to League Express.

Wouldn't surprise me, didn't IL state that we would be running with a stronger but much slimmer squad next season?

| Eamon O'Carroll new head coach at Newcastle. Wonder if we could see any players head up there on loan next season.

Easier said than done with Clark, he has two seasons left of his contract doesn't he?

I'm not sure on his contract length and, whilst i won't argue that moving him on will be easy, we're in that grey area of him being a bit of a numpty if he won't leave.
I know that he's got x amount of time to run, but players don't seem to look at the bigger picture of what happens after that deal.
Escare Vs Davies is a great example.
Whilst Escare has bagged himself a deal at Salford, how long has been out of the game? Will he still be able to do it? Has it cost him money in the long too? I can't imagine Salford paying big bucks for a guy who hasn't played in 12 months. You only need to look at Hardaker, who had a period out of the game and it fundamentally changed him as an athlete.
Davies on the other hand saw the writing was on the wall and backed himself (even tho he had a contract & a bad injury) to leave and make it somewhere else. He's done that and I'm sure that when his contract is up, he'll be set for a pay increase and there'll be plenty of suitors too.
Clark might sit on his ar$£ and collect a cheque, but who's gonna sign him after 2 years out of the game? What does he do then?

Depends on his options doesn't it? If he can get a bit less than what he's getting here to be a regular at another SL club then I'm sure he'll go, but I can see Clark possibly staring down the barrell of being semi-pro if he leaves Wigan right now. SL teams have most/all of their cap space committed by late November, and I can't see any SL team bending over backwards to bring in a guy in his late 20s who hasn't ever really got it done at this level except whoever the 12th team to come in is. Even then he's potentially part time in 2022 when the 12th team almost certainly gets relegated. Part time is, of course, particularly bad now given Championship could be cancelled/have less games next year for all we know, and all Championship clubs will be hurting from losing so many fixtures due to COVID.
If I was him I'd only being leaving for a 2+ year contract at an SL club (not including whoever comes up for 2021 as cannon fodder). Otherwise, stay at Wigan and push for a loan. That gives him time to find a place at an SL side for 2022 before they make all their cap decisions. It also gives him the chance to improve his stock, either with a view to getting back into the Wigan side or getting a spot elsewhere.

He was named in the squad.
Also he has not been match fit for 2 years, so long before he put pen to paper for us.

| I’m not particularly slating the guy but George Burgess needs to leave now and of his own accord. It’s all very sad when you’re injured to the extent that he appears to be but he must have known how he felt when he signed and rumours about his hip had been doing the rounds for some time. Obviously, the club needs to back players when they are badly injured and see them through to a full recovery but George has been injured from day one whilst taking a marquee spot and salary that goes with it. We have been more than patient with him for half of his contract. He should now do the decent thing and rip up the rest of his contract which will enable us to move on and continue planning for next year. I hope IL has had a gentle word in his ear.
