Doubt it, the salary cap applies to our top 25 earners. They would be at the bottom end of that or outside it altogether, so I assume top earners numbers 26 and 27 will be on a similar wage anyway.

They may not have been on the salary cap but they will no longer be on the balance sheet.

Fair enough but in terms of the cap they would only save the difference between his wage and that of the new 25th highest earner, who is probably on a similar amount. E.g if Jake was inside the top 25 earners on £40k, and the 26th earner is on £35k, then we save £40k in wages, but only £5k against the cap, which isn't really going to make a big difference in terms of being able to bring someone in.

I think G Burgess will still be here next year. I honestly hope that 2020 was just a bad year for him and he comes back firing in 2021 as a firing GB will really lift our pack up a notch. Unfortunately his absence has meant we’ve had to rely on deadwood like Clubb and that’s the reality of the situation. We’ve got a, on his day, world class prop forward making a home in the physios room and deadwood like Clubb coming in to replace him on the pitch.

If that's the case, then if we go out and get a new player for 40k the guy on 35k drops back off the SC. So if Jake was on 40k we can get a new player for 40k?

Or am I missing something?

Even if I am right we need to shift someone else (lets exclude the George staying or leaving for the second) as a 40k player is not what we need unless there is a real bargain out there.
