It depends whether IFL is looking at the impact on the balance sheet (and I wouldn't blame him if he was) or our salary cap spend. We know that the following have left: Escare, Budgie, Lockers, Flower, Greenwood and Shorrocks. We have signed: Singleton, Field and Bateman and a number of contracts will have improved or been renegotiated e.g. Havard, Hastings and French. We've definitely got money to spend.

The cap is live, which means that Greenwoods salary would be counting on it until the moment he left i.e it couldn't/hasn't been used for anyone else.

Presume other deals kick in afterwards (e.g Field coming in, improved contracts for French and Havard). Doubt we've got much left at all under the cap, which seems to match what KR is saying.

I don't understand sorry.

If we couldn't have shifted Greenwood then he'd have been here in 2021. All the signings and new deals had to have fitted in under the presumption that Greenwood was a player in 21. Now that he's gone, that money is available against the cap.

That's my understanding of a 'live cap' Vs one that you balance at the end of the season anyway, but I could be wrong.

Ah right I get you now. Depends if we were working under that assumption doesn't it? It could just as easily be that it was sorted a while ago (at least in principle) and only communicated to the fans now, or perhaps we wouldn't have been able to retain Leuluai if he hadn't gone. I can't see KR saying we don't have the cap room for another player then go and sign someone shortly after.

I have admitted that I should not have mentioned where Kibula came from.

I should have realised that it would have upset members of the pc brigade.
