I’ve been saying this for years but it still falls on deaf ears

Good move for both clubs and more importantly forthe player
I think Navarette was also linked with London?

Always liked Hankinson on the few occasions he got a game, can pass off his left hand which should be a pre-requisite for a right centre and probably the best goal kicker at the club.
If he had Gildart's pace he'd be top class, good luck to him next year.

Good move for him, he needs to be playing every week. I don't know why this is a loan rather than him going altogether though, surely we don't want a 28 year old with little SL experience providing centre cover in 2022. I don't think he's a bad player but I'd rather those games go to a younger player who we can develop into a long term starter.

| With it being a loan move does he have a future at Wigan beyond 2021?
I’d be surprised if he had but I guess a year getting regular rugby may see him improve to the levels required and expected by the coaches.
Another wage off the cap although I guess we may be paying a portion of his London salary if it is only a loan.
I’m still of the opinion we are making room for another signing to complete the squad.

| The squad is getting a bit thin for my liking but we’re lucky that we have a lot of versatility iand players who can shift around if needs be. We’ll hopefully see the likes of Navarette and Clark follow him out of the club (with prop being a position we have loads of depth but maybe not enough quality in) and maybe then they can look to bring in another prop and potentially a winger if space allowed. I think we can be pretty pleased with the squad as things stand and I don’t think there’s any desperation to strengthen.

I agree there is no desperation to strengthen, but I am desperate to dominate and I think signing a top prop and winger would enable us to do so.

If they leave room then I suppose there’s always the option mid season as and when things crop up. Good players always become available mid season and the club seem pretty good at negotiating deals that sees players get smaller amounts early doors and then get rises in the years that follow. Not that it would happen but say Luke Thompson continues his supposed struggles to settle down under and became available mid season, you’d love to think you’d have the room to compete.

Saying it's a wage off the cap is a bit misleading though isn't it? It's more like a few grand off the cap. Let's say Woods, Ja.Shorrocks and Hankinson were top earners number 23, 24 and 25. We only save the difference between their wages and those of the new 23rd, 24th and 25th earners (say Borough, Jo.Shorrocks and Hanley for argument's sake). That's all we have done since KR said we were close to the cap limit. I think the cap effect of these moves is fairly minimal and it's more about reducing the actual wage bill and giving guys who aren't in our plans the opportunity to play regular rugby.

Agree.
Not sure if a loan to London will improve his game but I always thought when he played he was solid if somewhat limited as you say. At one point I wondered if he could make a backrow player but maybe he isn’t the type who could handle the hurly burly of the pack.
Best goal kicker by a mile at the club and pretty decent from hand too.
Good luck to the lad.

| He is a victim of no reserves and no where to play.
Will return to Wigan in 2022 if the reserves returns and Gildart leaves for Aus as expected.
