Just catching up on the All Stars game where they mentioned George Burgess and his plans to sit out this year then make a come back to the game in Australia once he had his hip replacement issue.
Heard rumours we were possibly looking to offer him a job for the year with a view to him maybe having another crack with us but that looks unlikely if the above is true.

Wouldn’t begrudge him that to be honest. I genuinely wish him well in whatever his next venture is
Interesting to hear that he's been talking to Sean O'Brien who plays for London Irish.
For those that don't know - O'Brien had the same op done, with the same surgeon GB is lined up to see and is in great form at the min. He's 34 and there's a little bit of talk from the RU press about him playing for Ireland again.
Now there's a LONG way to go for GB, but that has to give him hope.
Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

There’s a lot of ifs, but, if he has the op and it’s successful I’d jump at the chance to take him back.
I think if the club had any real confidence of getting him back in a state to play rugby then he would still be a Wigan player. You don't agree to end a contract so early because of a few months of physio.

was the entire year for op an physio, suppose its no worse than an ACL timewise

Regardless of whether they have said it publicly or not, I think there was an implication that the club think there is a strong chance he will never return at the same level, and/or that the injury would continue to plague him. We have seen with Manfredi that they will keep the player where they think there is light at the end of the tunnel.
