I don’t agree with this. Maybe just maybe falling gated and a lack of star quality that has affected the entertainment, affected gates and led to a general malaise has forced there hand.
Having said that this is absolutely not a thread for negativity.
Congratulations and thanks indeed are owed to IL and KR for getting this one over the line and the standard to recruitment for next year.
Massive signing for the club, and Super League.
One other real benefit of this is that I think it will put us firm favourites for if/when his brothers are looking for a couple of years back in SL, although I don’t expect we could fit all 3 under a salary cap.
That’s a secondary thought though at the moment the thought of having a real world class Prop still in his prime is a fantastic result for the club.
General malaise whilst still being the joint most successful club over the last ten years. I’d hate to see the malaise if we’d had the same last ten years as Saints or Wire, who have made big name signings.
My point was that when we had a poor start to the season the pitchforks were out and everybody had an opinion. Usually when the club does something good, most of those go quiet.
I’ve commented on here that if Lenagan was either unwilling or unable to show some ambition with our signings then I hope he’d actively be looking for offers to come in from people who were (if they exist). My biggest fear about how things looked to be heading was that Ian Lenagan would have his legacy tainted because he should eventually sell this club and be chaired shoulder high around the DW field for what he’s done for this club.
As it looks to be turning out, he is able and is willing to put what looks an unbelievably exciting team out on the field for us next year and continue his work of the past decade and a bit. It’s now over to our support to repay him and turn out.

Brilliant recruitment for 2020 from IL and KR. Powerful pack, classy half backs and pacey backs. When the season ticket pack arrives it should make good reading.
Is it tho? Hastings is better than Lomax & Burgess is better than all your props too.
You're better than us this year, but next year it's even if not swung in our favour slightly.
I wouldn’t even try and compare man for man for next year because it’s so uncertain who’ll be at St Helens. Ultimately Saints were a shambles pre Holbrook and he may not be at Saints next year (I do think he’ll stay though). If he goes the house of cards comes crashing down, especially when us signing George Burgess leads to Thompson going to Souths to replace him.
Burgess could prove a shrewd signing in more ways then one.
Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid. Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal. Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.
Great news about Burgess, I take back my thoughts on Lenagan being tighter than a drum. It’s exaftly what we need in the pack, a proper prop and a ginormous one at that.
