I never said he WAS a 6, it was in response to rogues asking why people ‘think’ he’s a 6

To clear up my ‘French to HB’ calls;

I, like many others, believe he is the best FB in the league right now but I also think we as a team look far more dangerous when he is pairing up with Jax in the halves. I also think Zak would be outstanding playing off French coming from FB like ST used to do or even Zak himself at Cas. Perhaps I’m wrong, and if I am it’s not below me to admit as such.

There were some positives to tonight as others have said. Smith in the halves looked very promising. Both Bullock and Clark easily justified their selections and French has that little bit of magic and spark. Hastings also looked better and was looking to try things. Some nice tries scored when they tired.

However anyone who was happy with that first half and in particular the first 20 is on crack. I lost count of how many time’s on the third tackle we played the inside ball to a forward who was going nowhere. The next play was so easy to defend as they knew it was going to be an attempt to move it wide. It was awful.

The other negative was the defence. They just stood off and watched half the time. Again. No press at all. I think the low point was when they had an attack on their left and one of our players puts in a tackle to stop the move but the rest just stood and watched which slowed their player to wrestle free and get rid of the ball.

If we play like that v Hull the game will be gone in the first 20 minutes.

I also can’t comment without mentioning the ref. Thought he was very poor. They were offside for their first try and the second was a forward pass.

It's those formulaic sets we need to get rid of. You can visualise exactly how it's going to go and it's a shock when we do anything different. Two to three one out carries from the middle men, an inside ball to a 2nd row and then a meaningless shift play wide.

Let’s hope it’s not as serious as it sounds!

Something to ponder...from both wins Vs Wire and Toronto...there was no fat lady until both teams were down to 12/11 men.

So the moral of the story is teams with Wolves/Wolfs in their names should have better discipline. :wink:
