I've thought this. The whole Lam/Edwards thing has been a disaster. We are a far worse team than 3 years ago. We took Lam as an unproven coach, to fill a gap, with that in mind and with him being on a rolling contract, you have to wonder how much say he's had in player recruitment/retention.

I’d imagine he’s had some input but not as much as KR/IL.

I’m only guessing but you have to wonder also why Wane walked away and more interestingly why he might be brought back?

Would we be even having this discussion had George Burgess been able to replicate his NRL form? Clarke is another one.

Sometimes it’s easy to blame the coach but the issues seem a bit more complex.

This may go down as unpopular but from the outside looking in Rads is as accountable as Lam is if not more so.

I think they are equally as bad.

Lam is an absolutely horrendous coach imo. When you look across the side, is there one player who you can say is playing even close to their best ability?

KR has left under understrength, but how much easier would things be if Lam could get Bateman, Singleton, Clarke, Powell etc playing better.

That’s the impression I get from all the Edwards interviews. He couldn’t bring in his own staff or do things his way - might be paraphrasing slightly but he says words to that effect.

Lam may have had interference, but that then makes him a “Yes” man. Another reason to have done with him. Even with interference his style is baffling and poor. No excuses

Agree with this to some extent, I think the ability to manage upwards is something the new man must be able to do.

It’s one thing telling the players and coaching team what to do but another thing completely to influence the people that put you in the job.

For this reason I do hope we bring in somebody with fresh ideas and who is not a ‘mate’.

There's so many assumptions going on in this thread. Do we really know the dynamic between IL/KR/Lam and how they share out responsibilities? Lam was appointed from outside the club and hasn't played on the same team as anyone he is coaching. In fact none of them would have even have been in our system at all when he was playing at Wigan. How do you know he's therefore seen as more of a mate than a boss?

For next season?
Not sure if I’d be happy for 2022 but for remainder of season if Lam got the chop might be a consideration.

If we lose today surely IL will at least start thinking about Lam departing sooner rather than later.
Another defeat today would not surprise me in the slightest
