Rumours seem to be persisting that we've agreed a deal to sign him next year. Personally i think they're just rumours, although I'd be only too happy to take him, looks a good player!
Does anyone know anything? I certainly don't! The rumour does seem to be hanging around though.
Odd one, can't see Saints letting him go, especially to us!

Worst rumour ever. Why on earth would he take the MASSIVE wage cut to come to league, not a cat in hell's chance.

He seems to be talking about Gary Wheeler not Owen Farrell as it says above his post in the thread title bit "Gary Wheeler".

The Owen Farrell thing rather than being a rumour has kicked off on this thread because someone made a presumably tongue in cheek remark about being willing to take Owen Farrell and George Ford. Most likely as both have dads who were Wigan players and would have as kids started out playing RL. He isn't really a rumoured signing but lots of people seem to be treating it as such.

Top player, I would have him everyday of the week. We must be careful though, we don't want recruitment to prevent the advancement of our fantastic juniors. We have some great halves coming through the system, behind Powell and Mellor we have Taylor, Williams and Hampshire. The latter two are a devistating partnership. Williams. in particular, will be fast-tracked through the system.

Does anyone know what is Gaskells (Saints) contract situation?

Was talking to an amateur coach last year who mentioned that Gaskell wanted a pay increase and had been considering a move elsewhere for a better deal.

I wonder how many people that are saying about Farrell have actually seen him play? He is a RU fly half and is slow and has no attacking threat whatsoever. Those that liken him to a Rob Andrew or Jonny Wilinson clone are spot on. For people to say that he is somehow better than Leuluai, who has won just about everything that he can win, need their eyes tested. Farrell would have no position in a RL backline and isnt big enough for the forwards.

Farrell would have been a loose forward in rugby league rather than a halfback, although he could probably player either. He's big enough to play loose forward as you don't necessarily have to be the biggest. He seems to be a similar size to Liam Farrell. To be a good league player he would have had to have remained in the game during his teenagers years in my opinion to focus on the necessary skills. He's shown nothing to suggest he'd be a good league player if he switched codes.

I agree that there is no way Farrell could be said to be better than Leuluai given that Leuluai has played at the highest level for many years and played very well whereas Farrell has never even played a professional game of rugby league.

He's 6ft 2" and over 15 stone. He's big enough.
